New Zealand Woman Reports Stolen Pot To Police

A crying 45-year-old woman told police that it was the fourth time thieves have stolen her marijuana plants from her home. She explained to an officer that someone had sneaked on her property and stole three fully grown weed plants. The officer had difficulty restraining his smile as the woman told the story. Police decided that no action would be taken against the woman but warned her that growing these plants could land her in trouble.

OSx86 Install Guide For x200 Users

I would like to mention that QE/CI does NOT work under the x200 chipset.

What I used:
- Compaq V2610CA

- Windows XP

- Acronis Disk Director Suite 10

- VMware Workstation 5.5.1

- MacDrive 6

- Daemon Tools

-
SPTDinst-v135-x86.exe
- JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.v1p.and.Deviant.patch.iso

Step 1:
  • Open Acronis Disk Director Suite.
  • Select the drive you would like to split & click on the split button.
  • When the dialogue asks you to move specified files to the newly-created partition, click the “Next” button without selecting ANY files.
  • Move the slider to change the size of your new partition. Remember, you need at least 4GB but I’d recommend more than 10GB for your new partition. Press OK.
  • Click on the checkered flag button (commit) & then click Proceed.
  • The computer will reboot and start splitting the hard drive. Once the operation is complete, your computer will restart twice.
Step 2:
  • Open Acronis Disk Director Suite.
  • Right-click on your new partition and select Format.
  • Beside “File System:” select FAT32.
  • Right-click on your new partition and select Advanced > Convert.
  • Beside “Primary/Logical” select Primary Partition and press OK.
  • Right-click on your new partition once more and select Advanced > Change Type.
  • Scroll way down the list to “0AFh ShagOS swap”
  • Select it and press OK. Press OK again.
  • Press the checkered flag button (commit) & click Proceed.
  • Now your partition is ready for an OSx86 install.
Step 3:
  • In the start menu, navigate to All Programs > Acronis > Acronis Disk Director > Install Acronis OS Selector.
  • Click Next. Click on “I accept this agreement” and click Next again.
  • Select Typical and click Next. Click Proceed.
  • Click on Yes to reboot your computer.
  • You will now see the Acronis OS Selector every time you boot up your computer. Select your operating system (Windows XP) and press Enter.
Step 4:
  • Use Daemon Tools to mount your OSx86 image)
  • Open VMware Workstation.
  • Go to File > New > Virtual Machine.
  • Click Next.
  • Select Custom and click Next.
  • Select New – Workstation 5 and click Next.
  • Under Guest operating system and Version select Other. Click Next.
  • You can name your virtual machine if you wish but it is not necessary. Click Next.
  • Make sure you have one processor selected and click Next.
  • At this step, you can choose how much memory you wish to allocate to your virtual machine. The more memory, the smoother the installation will run. I would suggest at least 200 MB. Click Next.
  • Click on “Do not use a network connection” and click next.
  • Ensure that BusLogic is selected and click Next.
  • Click on “Use a physical disk” and click Next. Click OK when the prompt appears.
  • Select “Use individual partitions” and click Next.
  • In this step, select the partition you created for OS X and click Next.
  • Click Finish.
  • You’re almost done setting up your virtual machine. Now click “Edit virtual machine settings”.
  • Select “Hard Disk” in the list of Devices and click Advanced.
  • Check the box beside “Independent” and select “Persistant”. Click OK.
  • Select “CD-ROM” in the Device list. Select “Use physical drive” and choose the virtual drive in the list which holds your OSx86 image. Click OK.
  • Now that you’ve got your virtual machine all set up, it’s time to install OS X.
Step 5:
  • Click on “Start this virtual machine”
  • I don’t know if this is the case with other virtual machines but I had to very quickly double click on the virtual machine screen and press ESC. Then I scrolled down to “CD-ROM Drive” and pressed Enter.
  • Wait until the installer boots up (this may take a while)
  • If the dialog below shows up just press OK.
  • Select your language and press the arrow.
  • Go to Utilities > Disk Utility in the menu bar.
  • Wait until it gathers your disk information, then select the partition you wish to install OS X on.
  • Click on “Erase” at the top, and make sure the volume Format is “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)”. You can also name your partition to whatever you wish. Here I simply named it “Mac OS X”.
  • Click on Erase. Click on Erase again when the prompt pops up.
  • Once that operation is complete, you may close Disk Utility.
  • Continue through the pre-installation until you reach the screen below. You may have to click “Customize” at one point in order to reach this window.
  • Select the appropriate options that pertain to your system. In older versions of JaS, make sure you select “ATI.ATA.Support”. Click Install.
  • The installation process will now begin. This can take quite a while so be patient while all the files are installed (it took about an hour for me).
  • Once your installation is complete, you may shut down your virtual machine and close VMware.
  • Mac OS X is now installed but there are a few more things to do to get your machine running smoothly.
Step 6:
  • Open SPTDinst-vXXX-x86.exe and click Uninstall. Press OK. Press OK again. Reboot your computer.
  • If you see something like “Unknown Operating System” in Acronis OS Selector, great! If not, you need to go to Tools > OS Detection wizard and set up your new bootable partition there.
  • Install MacDrive and restart your computer.
  • Boot into Windows.
  • Go to My Computer and navigate to the partition on which you installed OS X.
  • From there, delete AppleGenericPCATA.kext from /System/Library/Extensions and /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns.
  • Delete IOUSBFamily.kext from /System/Library/Extensions
  • You may need to install scousi’s ATA driver if your system doesn’t boot. You can find it here.
  • You can now restart your computer and boot into Mac OS X.
Additional Step: Since my audio, wireless, and battery meter (power management) didn’t work, I decided to make this extra step.
  • If your wireless doesn’t work, then check out this page.
  • If your audio doesn’t work, you’ll need to install both this and this.
  • I have yet to find a working PowerManagement.bundle for my system but you can try keithpk's PowerManagement.bundle.
  • To change the screen resolution, you will need Callisto 003 (fixed).
  • If your fan is running at full speed in OS X, then you have the same problem as me. I'm trying to fix that problem by replacing kexts with ones from 10.4.7 since i didn't have that problem in that version.
Extra Note:
  • QE and CI DO NOT work with the x200 chipset so please do not ask for a driver, or inquire about the development of a driver.
  • Please check the forums at InsanelyMac before asking any questions.
  • If you see something wrong with this guide or wish to make improvement, please let me know either in the comments or email me at mchouin@gmail.com.

I would like to thank errandwolfe, Rammjet, SABR, scousi, Prasys, and sportman since I used their help to make this guide.

x200 Update

Well, I expect the download to finish tonight or tomorrow morning (it's currently at 93.6%) and then i can finally start the damn tutorial. I know its been a while since I said I would have the guide posted in a matter of days so I apologize to those who have been waiting. Since I have quite a few intense exams at the beginning of the week, I won't be able to start the guide until Wednesday night. I expected to have it done by the end of the week so keep checking back!

And by the way, for those who are wondering, I will be using "Jas 10.4.8 with v1p and Deviant Disk Utility Patches attached" as the basis for my install guide. Check the usual sites for it.

Mont Tremblant

Spring break is now over and it's back to school for most university students in Ontario. During the break, I had the chance to stay in Mont Tremblant for a couple of days with some friends. We had a pretty sweet room for only $169/night. It was my first time snowboarding there and it was pretty friggin sick. One of my buddies got kicked out of a bar one night for allegedly bringing alcohol into the bar but the next day, after talking to the owner about the situation, we went back to the same bar without having to pay cover or for our first round of drinks. Overall, it was a pretty good time and I must recommend Stays.com if you want to book a room there since they have sweet deals. On the left is a picture of the view from our balcony. :)

Hershey Factory Closing

Hershey is planning to close down its factory in Smith Falls. This will lead to 500 lost jobs and a big impact on Smith Falls tourism since many travel there to tour the factory and buy chocolate at low prices. Hundreds gathered in front of the factory on Saturday to protest the closing.

Britney Spears Sports A Shaved Head

As many of you know, Britney Spears has shaved her own head while out in Los Angeles. Salon owner Esther Tognozzi tried to talk her out of it but she insisted she wanted to do it and grabbed the buzzer herself. This new look is bound to hit the fashion world any time soon.

Telus Offers Porn To Their Customers

This is kind of old news but I decided to post it anyway. Telus now offers pornographic images and videos to their customers at a price of $3 to $4 per item! The phone company has put security measures in, preventing minors from viewing the content. Despite many complaints, Telus will continue to offer the adult service. Screw Rogers! I'm switching to Telus!

ATi x200 Users: Guide Coming Soon

I will soon be posting a full guide on how to install Mac OS X86 for those with the x200 chipset. It took me a while to get my laptop fully working with OSx86 (without QE/CI though) and I had to sort through many forums at InsanelyMac to find all the answers. So I have decided to create a guide for those inexperienced users who want all of the answers in one place. Come back in a few days and I'll have it posted! :)

About Time I Post A New Entry

So I was on the bus today, on the way to school, when I ran into Jason McGee. We were talking for a while and after a while he mentioned his disappointment when he went to read my blog and hadn't seen anything updated. I decided it was about time to write something new, so here it is...

I don't know if everyone is aware of Robert Pickton's trial in BC, but it's about friggin time. It took more than five years for the trial to start I think (I may be wrong). I hope this sick fuck rots in jail for the rest of his life. Anyways, enough of that.

The new iPhone by Apple looks sick! It's supposed to come out in June in the U.S. but there's no date yet for Canada. The 4GB model will cost $499 and the 8GB will be $599 (US Dollars). Since it's a GSM phone, my best guess is that Rogers will be the provider for the iPhone when it's released in Canada. It's got some pretty sweet features like a touch screen, an mp3 player that works just like the iPod, a movie player, and when you turn the phone horizontally, the display changes so it's also horizontal (I'm not explaining that well but it's on the Apple website if you want to check it out). It's also got a Wi-Fi so you can hook up to your wireless router at home and surf the web or check your email for example. Enough said. If you want to check it out just click here.
